About Outreach
The Center for Outreach Services provides support, assistance and resources to educators, interpreters, parents and school districts who work with learners who are deaf and hard-of-hearing in Ohio's public schools. We provide services to learners, families and schools using any communication mode, including both visual and auditory methods.
Our mission is to share and promote best practices in education among all educational partners serving deaf, deafblind and hard-of-hearing learners in Ohio.
The Center for Outreach Services at the Ohio School for the Deaf includes:
School-Age Outreach
Professional development and technical assistance for K-12 educators and programs
Early Childhood Outreach
Professional development and technical assistance for early childhood and pre-school educators and programs
Assessment Center
Assessments for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, including Multi-Factored Evaluations (MFE)
Interpreting & Sign Language Resources
Professional development and technical assistance for educational interpreters
Parent Mentor
Providing support for parents of Deaf and hard-of-hearing students to work with their districts
Assisting families and professionals seeking to improve their ASL skills
Deafness Collection at the State Library of Ohio
Providing materials related to deafness to borrowers across the state
There is no cost to parents or eligible school districts and employees for services provided by the Center of Outreach Services.
